Debbie Reinberg, MAcc, started working in the geriatric field in 1987. As vice president at both GeriMed of America and Cornerstone Health Management, she was responsible for implementing hospital-based geriatric outpatient primary care programs.
Understanding the complexities of geriatric care, she brought together a professional team of geriatric care specialists to directly address the needs of older adults and their caregivers. ElderCARE Network, a geriatric care management company, was formed in 1997 to provide assessment, advocacy, referral, and coordination of services for older adults and their caregivers. She received the Outstanding Chapter Member Award from the Western Regional Chapter of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers in 2002.
Debbie served as executive director for the Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, where, in addition to ongoing administrative duties, she strengthened educational and networking activities across the state, successfully achieved title protection (based on degree) for all social workers in Colorado, reinstated successful biennial state-wide conferences, and spearheaded collaborations with other mental health professional groups for legislative efforts.
She first took mediation courses in 2005 through the Institute for Advanced Dispute Resolution (IADR) and assisted in curriculum development for IADR’s Healthcare/Eldercare Mediation course. She volunteers at Jefferson County Mediation and is active in Colorado Bar Association endeavors to shape the future of elder mediation and increase awareness of its merits.
Debbie has an undergraduate degree in sociology (with emphasis in social psychology) from the University of Texas, and she received her business degree (with emphasis on nonprofit management and management information systems) from the University of Denver, with a fellowship from the National Institute of Mental Health. She is interested in neuroscience, studying the implications of “the brain,” and mediation.
