Kenneth F. Bunting


Kenneth Bunting spent parts of four decades as a journalist, executive, and leader in the newspaper industry. He was associate publisher at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer when that newspaper ended 146 years of print publication in March 2009. He was “the P-I’s” executive editor from 2000 to 2005 and its managing editor from 1993 to 2000. Immediately before moving to Seattle, Bunting, a native of Houston, was senior editor at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he also served as state capitol bureau chief. He spent nine years at the Los Angeles Times as a reporter and editor and has worked for the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, the San Antonio Express-News, the Cincinnati Post, and the Sacramento Bee. He is on the boards of the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowships, the (Seattle) Alliance for Education, Islandwood School, and the Washington Coalition for Open Government. He and his wife, Juli, a former broadcast journalist, have one son.
