Are you ready? Come on along and read some homespun poetry as well as a jot and tittle regarding distinguished poets and their works. Gael offers a positive balance of her own nostalgia notes and poetic meanderings with those of others.
I am really looking forward to summer! My young grandson lives a thousand miles away, and our visits are few and far between. This summer he is coming to stay with me for a short time, and I can hardly wait for our conversations.
The last time we talked, he told me about his friend who has “A really cool watch that doesn’t even need a battery.” Hmmm, “How does it operate?” I innocently inquired.
"Well, he twists a little button on the side until it is really tight and then it runs for a whole day!”
Ah yes, seems to me I have heard about those.
Summer brings with it visits from family. The welcome chatter of returning birds. The giggle of squirrels. A longing for the sound of the sea.
What promise does summer hold for you this year?
FINDING SUMMER White froth rolls in to kiss bare toes inviting feet to paddle. Clouds chase the sky to an unseen finish line beckoning me to race dizzily with them. I breathe spray. I taste salt.
Unrestrained by winter wool I sway to the rhythm of tidal music. As free as a lissome gull I do a joyous dance: I have found summer waiting at the seashore. |
