By Kim Kirmmse Toth, LCSW, CMC, ACC

Okay, you have narrowed down some of your options for where you want to live. You’ve decided between urban and country, you know the weather you want, and you feel comfortable with your decisions.

Well, here are some more options for you. You are fortunate that you have quite a variety of choices, and you probably have decades of living left, so you want to be sure you think things through. Check these out, and see what feels right for you:

  • Single-family home
  • Townhouse
  • Condo or apartment
  • Retirement community
  • Co-housing

Surely you know people living in any of these situations. Quiz them! What do they like? What don’t they like? Which one makes the most sense financially for you? If it’s in a community setting and you are paying for amenities like pools, golf courses, hiking trails, etc., will you make use of these? Will you be around people your own age? Does it matter?

These are big decisions. Take your time and do your research. It will pay off in the end. Living in a place that suits you will make a big difference in how much you enjoy this well-earned time of life! Choose wisely and thoughtfully! Then relax and enjoy.
