Politically Correct Chocolate Penguins in Time for the Holidays!
One of my favorite chocolate companies is Moonstruck Chocolate Co. Awesome-tasting chocolates aside, I love how creative they are with their seasonal offerings. I recently received a box of their holiday collection of penguin truffles (raspberry, orange, lemon, extra bittersweet), and the first thing that popped into my head was that they were politically correct in an election year. No donkeys or elephants in this truffle box!
Granted, I’m coming off a news binge surrounding the election, but I’m thinking others might be comforted as well by chocolate truffle animals that have nothing to do with either political party’s mascot.
This is a fun treat for a family of four. You can each choose a penguin and then take your time to enjoy every little bite of the truffle. Fight the instinct to put the whole penguin truffle in your mouth (the wonderful taste experience will only last 10 seconds if you do). This is a great time to practice slowing down the eating process and paying attention to the wonderful textures and all the amazing flavors the truffle has to offer! That’s what my family did the evening the box of penguins arrived. I was the last to choose and tasted the extra-bittersweet penguin truffle by default. I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
