In four days, a friend and I will fly to Harlingen, Texas, and drive a rental car to see the Alamo and to visit another friend, who has been wintering in San Antonio with her husband since early November.
To say the three of us are close is an understatement. We, and others, refer to us as the three musketeers! While there have been weekly phone conversations and emails flying back and forth, the thought of not seeing her until sometime in late May had become unbearable.
I’ve only flown through Dallas and Houston, so this will be a new experience for me. The only plan we have is for the three of us to go to Padre Island to walk the beach, stick our toes in the water, and drink mimosas—not something one does at this time of year in the Midwest.
I know it may not sound too exciting, but I know we’ll spend our time talking, laughing, sharing our hearts, and, no doubt, a few tears.
Texas, here we come!
