Have you heard about the Johnson & Johnson recall? News came out today that they’ve expanded it. Most of the news stories don’t link to the list of recalled products, so we thought we’d post one:
McNeilProductRecall.com.
The site mentions specific lots of Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, and St. Joseph Aspirin. The complaint is some of these medicines have a musty odor and have caused a small number of people to experience fun stuff like nausea or diarrhea.
The FDA has issued
the following statement:
"Based on this investigation, McNeil Consumer Healthcare [the Johnson & Johnson division] has determined that the reported uncharacteristic smell is caused by the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). This can result from the breakdown of a chemical that is sometimes applied to wood that is used to build wood pallets that transport and store product packaging materials. . . ."
