My Family Doctor

A family practitioner for over 25 years, Dr. Hubbard knows the medical world inside and out. Frustrated by managed care and the lack of time doctors were able to spend educating patients, he launched James Hubbard's My Family Doctor: The Magazine That Makes Housecalls, a national magazine written by health care practitioners that is his answer to hurried doctor visits, conflicting medical studies, and complicated treatment options.

Johnson and Johnson Recall List: Tylenol, Benadryl, Motrin, Rolaids, More

Trace amounts of the chemical TBA found

Have you heard about the Johnson & Johnson recall? News came out today that they’ve expanded it. Most of the news stories don’t link to the list of recalled products, so we thought we’d post one: McNeilProductRecall.com.

The site mentions specific lots of Tylenol, Motrin, Benadryl, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, and St. Joseph Aspirin. The complaint is some of these medicines have a musty odor and have caused a small number of people to experience fun stuff like nausea or diarrhea.

The FDA has issued the following statement:

"Based on this investigation, McNeil Consumer Healthcare [the Johnson & Johnson division] has determined that the reported uncharacteristic smell is caused by the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). This can result from the breakdown of a chemical that is sometimes applied to wood that is used to build wood pallets that transport and store product packaging materials. . . ."

Gotta go check my cabinets!
