In my hometown of Hastings, Nebraska, we have a number of fun, affordable events during the summer. In June, the Cottonwood Festival makes its appearance at Brickyard Park, a lovely city park with an outdoor amphitheatre and rolling hills.
Tents are erected to house vendors selling handmade crafts and artists selling bronze sculptures, jewelry, paintings, and photography. In addition, there are musical acts day and night, with both locally and nationally known talent.
Then there are the perennial favorites—onion blossoms, Indian tacos, fresh squeezed lemonade, and sweet/salty kettle corn. So, If you are going to be in Nebraska in the middle of June, come see what’s happening. I guarantee you’ll be glad you came.
