Never Let It All Hang Out!

Dear Blabby and Crabby:

My husband and I just returned from a Caribbean sailing vacation in St. Barts. To add a little spice to our lives, we tried nude sun bathing while at anchor our first day out. Unfortunately, my husband has a fair complexion and didn’t use sunscreen. He burned badly in some places he never imagined and felt miserable the rest of the week. Needless to say, our vacation was ruined. When we returned home, I told some of our friends about his sunburn. Now he’s embarrassed and also mad at me. I think it’s funny, but he sees no humor in the situation at all. Am I wrong to talk about his problem with our friends? Signed: Hanging Out with Captain Red

Crabby: Oh man! I can feel his pain.

Blabby: Are you quoting our past president?

Crabby: I felt his pain also. I was dating this girl in college, when one weekend I got drunk at a tailgating party and ended up spending the next three days with another sophomore beauty in my dorm room. My regular girl friend found out, and that was the end of our relationship. She dumped me just like that.

Blabby: The things women won’t do for men! I feel your trauma. She obviously didn’t understand your needs. Maybe if you had tried nude sun bathing with her your relationship would have been saved.

Crabby: I didn’t think of that at the time. That may have worked.

Blabby: I’m sure. Now let’s get back to Mrs. Red’s question. Should she stop talking about his sunburn problem?

Crabby: It’s too late. His personal issue is already out, no pun intended. He should just let it go and realize he’s married to a wonderful woman who is more than willing to experiment with situations that add spice to their lives. I think he’s a lucky man.

Blabby: Lucky man? He came within an inch or two of having a serious medical problem. I can understand why he’s embarrassed about it. Severe sunburn is no laughing matter. If it happened to you, would you want your wife to talk about it?

Crabby: That would be okay with me. I’ve never been to St. Barts.

Blabby: I’m not talking about the island here. I’m talking about the sunburn. Try and stay focused.

Crabby: I’ve always wanted to see the Caribbean but never took the time. Maybe it’s not too late.

Blabby: Since we’re getting nowhere here, I’ll call a travel agent. I think you need a vacation.
