My Family Doctor

Dr. James Hubbard graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in the top of his class. A member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (for the nation's top medical students), he was then chosen for the highly acclaimed Parkland Memorial Hospital internship in Dallas, where he trained in internal medicine.

He went on to establish two of the most successful medical practices in North Mississippi. He has earned a master of public health degree and is board certified in occupational medicine. He is also a fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians.

A family practitioner for over 25 years, Dr. Hubbard knows the medical world inside and out. In 2003, frustrated by managed care and the lack of time doctors were able to spend educating patients, he made a radical career change, launching a national magazine written by health care practitioners for the general public.

He remains on the front lines of health care, seeing patients part-time while he publishes the magazine, now called James Hubbard's My Family Doctor: The Magazine That Makes Housecalls. Dr. Hubbard says the magazine “provides a new way to connect doctors and patients across the country. My goal is to give people the information they need to make informed decisions about their health, so they can live healthier, more fulfilled lives.”

Dr. Hubbard contributes regularly to the print edition of the magazine and to the blog and interactive forums.
